‘The Art of Buoyancy’ is a playful yet critical satire that draws on the sea and current discourses around sea craft, sea borders and the transportation of various kinds of goods (and bodies) across waters.

The work was originally presented behind glass in the front window display of a tourist/souvenir shop in the Smith St Mall in Darwin.  A small TV monitor screening the video sat amongst a display of fluffy toy dingoes, frogs, kangaroos, ‘indigenous’ artefacts, t-shirts, ‘australiana’ teatowels and other tourist paraphernalia.
